DesignEx'09 is focused on exploring young design talents from mainland China by introducing the public to more than 200 pieces of graduation work from students of six leading mainland educational institutes, namely Academy of Arts and Design of Tsinghua University, China Academy of Art, Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, College of Fine Arts of Shanghai University, Nanjing Arts Institute together with Cheung Kong School of Art and Design of Shantou University.
Through a display of the students' design works in areas as varied as product and industrial design, communication design, interior design and installation design among the others, viewers and visitors can understand not only the achievements of design education in the mainland in recent years, but also gain a deeper understanding of the creative minds of a new generation of young art students and emerging designers in the mainland about their passion for and interpretations of contemporary art and design amid the social and cultural repercussions brought forth by China's burgeoning economic development.
