Piet Hein Eek

Piet Hein Eek graduated in 1990 from the Academy of Industrial Design in Eindhoven with the now well-known Classic Cabinet in Scrapwood. In a time of lavishness and perfection, he opted for simple materials and a sober design. In the years that followed, the company grew and in 2010 they moved to a former Philips factory in Eindhoven. The place is developing into a creative hotspot with restaurants, showroom, gallery, shop, hotel and workshop as the beating heart of the company. Where labour is increasingly moved to low-wage countries or is performed by computer-controlled machines, Eek has kept his workshop in Eindhoven where every product is made by hand with great craftsmanship and an eye for detail.
