Kartell

Kartell was founded in 1949 in Milan, Italy, by chemist Giulio Castelli. Starting with practical household items, the brand soon became a driving force in shaping post-war aesthetics. For over 76 years, Kartell has remained rooted in technological research and material innovation, championing the global presence of “Made in Italy.”

A true laboratory of creativity, Kartell has long collaborated with many of the world’s top designers to push the boundaries of industrial design. From this dream factory came iconic creations such as the Componibili, the Louis Ghost Chair, the Masters Chair, the Bourgie Lamp, and the Kabuki Lamp—all celebrated works that have won prestigious awards like the Compasso d’Oro and have earned permanent places in institutions like MoMA in New York and the Centre Pompidou in Paris.

In 1999, Kartell established its own museum, Kartell Museo, where over a thousand pieces narrate the brand’s rich legacy.

Since 2018, Kartell has embraced a new environmental manifesto—Kartell Loves the Planet—with the goal of achieving full product sustainability by 2030, as technology allows. Every new product launched since then is made from recycled or rigorously certified sustainable materials.

Today, Kartell is globally recognised for its contemporary, fashion-forward designs, innovative materials, and exceptional quality—offering a complete home collection that spans sofas, modular systems, tables, chairs, lighting, and accessories. More than a brand, Kartell stands as a symbol of lifestyle—where design, technology, fashion, and culture converge.
