REMARKS:

PolyU Research Centre for Cultural and Art Technology (CAT) is a University-level Research Centre housed in the School of Design. To explore the research achievement of culture and art technology in Asia’s academic field, the Curator and Director of CAT, Prof. Henry Duh, has invited scholar-artists from renowned universities in Asia to participate in the Art Tech Exhibition “Researching the Future” cum “The Academic Convergence of Art and Technology” Symposium to exchange research experience and achievement with various sectors of the industry.

The invited scholar-artists include Prof. KAN Tai-keung, SBS (PolyU), Prof. INAMI Masahiko (The University of Tokyo), Dr GAO Feng (Peking University), Dr KHOO Eng Tat (National University of Singapore), Dr LAI Mei-kei (Macao Polytechnic University, Dr KANG Yiyun (KAIST, South Korea).

Scholar-artists utilize seamless integration of great computing chips, interactive sensing devices, actuators, cameras, array of sound interfaces and display panels combined thoughtfully with AI, computer vision, and engineering, to create stunning natural landscapes, surreal worlds and immersive soundscapes. From tradition to the future, from nature to cyborg, from senses to soul, scholar-artists not only explore the application of technology in art forms, but also reflect on the different spiritual aspects of technology in modern life through creation, reflect their humanistic care, and present a broad spectrum of the Art Tech.
