The Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) is committed to its mission of promoting the development of Hong Kong’s Hong Kong’s Hong Kong’s design education and fostering exchanges between industry, students, and design lovers through collaboration with the world’s top museums, design institutions and designers. Beginning in 2025, the HKDI Gallery will collaborate with leading cultural institutions in France and Mainland China, unveiling two flagship exhibitions from late January – Tonight with the Impressionists, Paris 1874 – An Immersive Expedition in Virtual Reality and The Warm-beings: Guangzhou Design Triennial – Hong Kong Exhibition.
Tonight with the Impressionists, Paris 1874 – An Immersive Expedition in Virtual Reality is organised by HKDI and co-produced by Excurio, GEDEON Experiences and Musée d'Orsay, and celebrates the 150th anniversary of Impressionism. An immersive 42-minute VR experience will transport visitors back to the opening night of the very-first Impressionist exhibition, bringing them into encounters with iconic artists such as Monet, Renoir, and Degas, discovering the works that marked the movement's beginnings. The experience is offered in Cantonese, Putonghua, English and French versions. Exhibition period: 24 January to 11 May, 2025.
