After four years working together on projects for FABRICA and sharing holidays and adventures, Gabriele Schiavon and Gerard Sanmartí created lagranja design in Barcelona in 2002.

Their initial projects were centred on providing solutions for exhibitions and commercial interiors. The inquisitive nature of the design team led them to new projects, including made-to-measure furniture and lamps for their own interior design projects. Soon the studio’s projects received recognition both at home and abroad.

Commissions from important Italian and Spanish furniture companies began to arrive and, along with thriving business, they also gained a series of awards including the Red Dot Award (2007), the City of Barcelona Design Award (2008), Via Prize (2009), IIDA Excellence Award from the International Interior Design Association, the US (2009), IDEA Award (2008) and Silver Delta Award (2012).

As years passed by, lagranja design continued to expand its project scope, first in Hong Kong (2010) and then in Istanbul (2013).
