Josep Abril is a Barcelona-based fashion designer and creator of JOSEPH ABRIL. He studied fine art and fashion design at EATM, Barcelona, before starting his eponymous menswear label in 1996, still on the market at showrooms and fashion events today.

Abril became creative director of Armand Basi menswear in 2003 and launched his “Bespoke” tailoring project in 2006. Abril’s “Uniformed By” range of luxury uniforms was released one year later. A keen costume designer for theatre and the opera, Abril has created garments for shows around the globe including “Madame Butterfly” at the Opera Australia, Sydney, and “Le Vaisseau Fantome” at the Opera de Lyon.

Abril gives design classes and workshops in various universities. His awards include Gaudi New Designer, Best National Menswear Designer (GQ), Best Professional (Barcelona Es Moda), and Best Collection 2014 (Barcelona Fashion).
