Subtraction Cutting 1998-now | Julian Roberts

In this Lecture Welsh fashion designer and academic Julian Roberts provides a personal narrative of the development of his Subtraction Cutting practice, how it is shaped by human contact and encouraging people in faraway places to engage in risky experimental fashion practices, and how his ‘Free Cutting’ publications and performances have promoted shared exchanges of knowledge, which has helped new designers be more open about how they make clothes, revealing the processes of construction, and inviting more beneficial exchanges which value craft community.
