Contemporary Swiss Architecture, Condensed Programmes and Functions in Change
The densification of cities and their social changes demand constant reinterpretations of functions and programme. Monofunctional residential buildings are transforming into hybrid programmes and diverse living spaces; schools are becoming learning workshops and meeting places; hermetic museum buildings are evolving into open cultural spaces. Through various current examples, we can see how buildings and programmes in Switzerland are sustainably evolving, responding to social changes, enriching architectural discourse, and reviving architectural utopias.
