Fermín Vázquez graduated from the Madrid School of Architecture in 1988 before completing his doctoral studies at the Barcelona School of Architecture. He is head of b720, the international architecture firm he founded with Ana Bassat in 1997.

 

b720 operates from offices in Brazil and Spain, working on projects in over a dozen different countries. Some of b720’s better known works include the Agbar Tower in association with Ateliers Jean Nouvel; the Lleida-Alguaire Airport; the Barcelona City of Justice and the America’s Cup Building in Valencia, in association with David Chipperfield Architects; the Encants Barcelona Market; and the Spanish Pavilion for Expo Milan 2015.

 

More recently, the firm has worked on the Cais Mauá Harbor in Porto Alegre and a new 70,000 inhabitant neighbourhood in Brasilia. They are starting construction on two high-rise towers in São Paulo and a 5-star hotel at Plaza España in Madrid. 

 

Vázquez lectures and participates in workshops and conferences at institutions and universities around the world.
